Marinara Sauce

The classic Italian tomato-based sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic, pressed
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 58 ounces tomatoes, drained and chopped (4 cans)
  • 2 Tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 Tablespoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 2 bay leaves

Instructions

  1. Cook onion and garlic in olive oil in Dutch oven over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until tender. Add tomatoes and remaining ingredients. Bring mixture to a boil; reduce heat to medium, and cook 20 minutes or until most of liquid evaporates, stirring occasionally. Remove and discard bay leaves.
